Birthday Celebrations

This has been a great week! :)

 I had been attempting (for a while) to coordinate some get-togethers with various friends, and everything happened to land within the same 6 day span of time! :)

Monday included happy hour with a classmate I hadn't seen since before internship started; the happy hour fun continued on Tuesday with a former co-worker and another former co-worker/classmate; Wednesday I was the grateful "model" for a stylish new haircut by a dance friend who is training at a new salon; Thursday was "intern dinner" to celebrate our 6-month mark with the best intern co-hort a girl could ask for.  Phew, that makes me tired just thinking of it! :)

Friday I ran around doing errands after work (and making cupcakes!) in preparation for the birthday party I hosted for myself on Saturday (another goal completed!!).  I always find it amusing (and a bit confusing) to have my friends from various worlds colliding- but, the afternoon/evening was packed with friends from school, dance, former co-workers, and current co-interns.  I was so thrilled to show off my new apartment (after spending the morning cleaning & putting the final touches on organization!!) as well as my new haircut (and a new outfit a friend helped me pick out a while back).  All in all, it was a busy, but wonderful day!

(Laughing at the trick candles-- I tried & tried to blow them out, but then the smoke alarm went off & I decided to dump the still-burning candles into a glass of water! haha!)

I continued the good mood today by finding a lovely balance between productivity & relaxation (slept in, cleaned up the apartment, worked on my dissertation, exercised, completed my  mindfulness homework, watched Glee, and enjoyed a yummy dinner- with leftover Champagne & chocolate cupcake!)  I don't know if it's the buzz from seeing so many friends, or maybe from laughing so much last night, but whatever it is I hope this feeling lasts!

In other news- I've completed all of my interviews for post-doctoral positions, and expect to hear on the 27th of this month.  I am only eligible for three positions (each with only one spot) so I am hopeful, but know that there is a chance I won't get placed. thankfully, if none of these options work out I know there will be plenty of other options to investigate (but, I really hope to get selected so that i don't have to worry about that!!)
