Walking in the Rain

This morning I completed Pepperdine's Coastal Walk 5K for the third year in a row (with a professor and dissertation committee member).  The prior 2 years, the weather was gorgeous as we meandered along the beach talking and walking.  This year, we were visited with rain.  Not a downpour, but enough to drench our clothes and drip off our foreheads!  However, after the rain, I mean the walk (!) [haha- that was an honest typo, too funny to edit out!] my professor invited the group of us out to brunch, where we enjoyed yummy food, warm coffee, and great company/conversation. Of the group of 10 psychologists (plus one "kid of psychologists") I was the only one who has not yet completed my degree--- it was quite inspiring to talk with everyone, and realize just how close I am to the finish line.

during brunch, the lovely California sun came out, warmed us as we were sitting comfortably inside, drying our clothes and hair & we filled our bellies-- the morning filled me with a sense of gratitude and was a great reminder that sometimes we need to get soaked by the rain, so that we can remember just how wonderful the sun feels!
